Our Directors

Caroline Harris, Founder and Director

Caroline founded Spirit Public Relations after building her career in public relations and marketing consultancy in Bristol and London. She provides strategic communications advice and counsel for Spirit’s clients.

She has more than 25 years’ experience in the communications industry with clients from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors and her work has won national PR and marketing awards.

Her strong strategic skills and commitment to her work are demonstrated in the way she has retained existing clients for many years at the same time as attracting new business for the company.

With a wide network of established contacts in Bristol and the South West, she has a thorough understanding of the economic, social, cultural and political landscape in the region. Her work is driven by her desire to make a positive contribution to the communities in which Spirit operates:

Suzan Uzel, Director

Suzan has significant experience in PR, digital communications and journalism.

As a Spirit director, she helps to drive the direction of the business as well as advising clients across the portfolio on media & stakeholder relations, social media, marketing and issues management. Suzan currently oversees some of the company’s key developer clients and projects.

She has forged many long-standing relationships with Spirit’s clients, helping to maintain the company’s strong retention rate, as well as with key journalists in the national, sector-specific and regional media. With her finger on the pulse when it comes to the fast-moving world of digital communications, Suzan is also Spirit’s social media guru, shaping and delivering carefully crafted campaigns that make a difference.

Suzan is a qualified journalist and former business correspondent for leading regional newspaper and news website, The Yorkshire Post.

Kierstan Lowe, Director

Kierstan is a highly experienced communications professional who has worked across a range of sectors both in consultancy and in-house, including for the NHS, central government and Bristol City Council, where she managed the PR team. She worked for Spirit for many years before re-joining the team in 2017 as an Associate.

A former broadcast journalist for BBC and independent local radio, Kierstan has an eye for a story and an ability to target material to specific audiences.

Using the full range of communications tools including media relations, stakeholder engagement, content marketing and social media as well as marketing, advertising and events, Kierstan designs and delivers campaigns to help meet clients’ objectives.

We work with clients to tell their story via the most effective channels for them, from national news outlets and trade publications to social media, video and blogs.”

Beth Clement, Account Executive

With a degree in journalism and public relations as well as a strong background in project coordination, social media and event management, Beth provides support across the Spirit portfolio. Beth has a passion for writing and coming up with creative ideas, coupled with a sound knowledge of Bristol and the South West region.

She has worked in a range of industries, including transport consultation and project planning in Auckland, New Zealand, as a manager in Bristol’s hospitality sector and, prior to joining Spirit in 2021, in the charity sector specialising in healthcare.

At Spirit, Beth’s particular areas of focus include carrying out in-depth research, building relationships with the media and clients, as well as getting involved in the shaping and delivery of PR and social media campaigns that stand out from the rest.

“Supporting people and organisations who are passionate about what they do is what I love about being an Account Executive at Spirit. I’ve lived in Bristol for nearly 10 years and it is deeply important to me to be able to make a positive difference to the city and region within which I live.”

Gina Channell 

Originally a trained journalist, Gina worked in consumer, interiors and property PR in London agencies and in-house for more than 15 years before setting up her own design-focused consultancy. A greatly valued Spirit associate and collaborator, Gina works with us on a range of creative property and interiors campaigns and brings strong connections with target media, bloggers and influencers.

 

 

 

Sue Amiel

Sue has worked with Spirit PR for more than a decade, leading on major corporate accounts, running campaigns and supporting clients to achieve their communications goals.
She specialises in business to business PR and is particularly passionate about sustainability and the environment, working with a range of green sector clients including environmental consultancies, campaign organisations and renewable energy companies.
