We’ve just completed an exhausting but incredibly rewarding week promoting the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, one of the UK’s biggest outdoor events.
45% of the half million people who visit come because of the media coverage so it’s up to us to encourage the press to cover the event.
Record-breaking crowds attended at the weekend, attracted by BBC’s The One Show, which reaches 6 million viewers and BBC Breakfast, which both broadcast live from the event.
Alongside blanket coverage on all local media, there were also national stories in The Guardian, Times, Independent, Telegraph, Daily Mail, I and Sunday Mirror, to name a few.
As well as promoting the event through local and national media relations we also developed the Fiesta’s social media after launching it in 2010. By the end of the event 5,221 people liked the Facebook page which received 915,989 post views and 4,200 feedback posts and 2,320 people were following the Fiesta on Twitter.
