This year’s Bristol Balloon Fiesta kicked off in style with a number of pre-event campaigns to promote the event across the UK.
In the run up to the Fiesta we launched a new campaign that would remind commuters that the world-famous festival was almost here.
Popping up across the South West at various secret locations, a number of tethered balloons could be seen along key routes during the morning rush hour. We teamed up with Heart FM to offer passers by the chance to enter a competition to fly in a mass ascent during the event.
We also worked closely with the media to stimulate interest nationally. Journalists were invited to the launch event and had the chance to fly in an early morning ascent in sight of Brunel’s famous Suspension Bridge.
The campaigns delivered big results both regionally and nationally. Six national online picture galleries featured stunning images from the air, including the MailOnline homepage, which is visited by 70 million unique users per month, the Sky News homepage and ‘Day in Pictures’ on the BBC News webpage.
Other national print coverage included The Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Independent’s I, the Financial Times, the Guardian and the Sunday Mirror.
