It’s a project that has been more than 20 years in the making but with a little help from a Minister and a smallpox virus, the Bristol & Bath Science Park is now officially open!
Hundreds of people gathered at the Park to see Rt Hon David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science, launch this new powerhouse for research and development.
Spirit worked with the Science Park team to deliver an exciting event, including science broadcaster Kate Bellingham interviewing the Minister about his plans for promoting innovation in the UK.
The launch captured the media’s attention, achieving coverage in The Independent, Property Week and blanket exposure in local and regional press, including both TV stations, all the local radio stations plus print and online.
And just in case you’re wondering where the smallpox virus comes in…three glass sculptures of viruses, created by internationally renowned artist Luke Jerram, were also unveiled as part of the launch. Spirit was instrumental in introducing him to the Science Park team and new collaborations with Luke are now being explored.
